Practice
Self-knowledge

The practice revealed to us by Sri Ramana Maharshi as the simple but subtle and deep method of self-investigation or self-knowledge. By turning our attention inside to find the source of ‘I’ and keeping our focus there is the key point of the practice. Normally our attention and interests are continuously directed outwards to objects, phenomena and thoughts.

Love thy God

Christ taught us both in moral adjustment and to be aware of our thoughts, not just the consequences, which are the results of our desires and preferences.

Directing love towards our God, or our self, gradually diminishes the meaning of "I, me, and mine." This leads to self-knowledge.

I think both methods lead to the same result. When our attention is turned inward, to our heart, we return home to where we came from or rather where we have always been.

The real goal is therefore complete surrender. To give up our false identification of "I am this body-mind" and to be what we are by nature, our own true self.
